The Institute is an IRS approved 501(3) Non-profit corporation which was incorporated in the State of California in December 2002. It is governed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of William H. Fredlund, Nathaniel Collins, Mary Ellen Cuykendall, Mary Dunlap, Robert Garner, Mike Miller, Roger Stein, Diana Van Der Werff, Marnie Snow, and Norm Whiteley, plus non-Board officers Grace Fagalde (CFO) and Hugh Barnett (VP for Financial Development).

William H. Fredlund

Director of the Institute and Board Member

Dr. Fredlund obtained his B.A. and M.A. from UCLA, where he specialized in European history and art history. After independent study in Europe, Dr. Fredlund came to Stanford University, where he completed a double Ph.D. in history and humanities, specializing in Renaissance Italy. Dr. Fredlund also studied in Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship. While living in Italy, he lectured extensively in Florence for the American university programs of UCLA and the University of Michigan, as well as for the University of Florence. Dr. Fredlund has taught for UCLA, Stanford University, and UCSC Extension.
