Ruby Ming was born in Boston, went to high school in Philadelphia, and received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Brown University. As a docent at the Asian Art Museum, she designed private, public, and school group tours, and gave talks around the Bay Area highlighting cultural exchange and transmission. She has taught art making and appreciation in classrooms across Santa Clara County and presented teacher professional development workshops for the National and California Art Education Associations and the California Association for the Gifted. Currently, she is the Director of Strategy for 1990 Institute, managing and producing a two-day seminar focused on contemporary China topics. Ruby is married and homeschooled four sons. In her spare time, she is pursuing a master’s degree in Museum Studies at SFSU.
