History of France

Fall

Winter

Spring

During this academic year the Institute presents a thirty-week course, "The History of France". During the first quarter of our academic year of study together, we examine the Celts, the Romans, the Christian missionaries, and the great feudal monarchies, and ask how each of these contributed to the formation of France. We continue in the Winter Quarter to study the Renaissance and Reformation. In the Spring Quarter, we turn our attention to Versailles, the Bourbon monarchs, the French Revolution, and Napoleon.
