Hugh was born Canadian in Calgary, Alberta, and moved to California to complete high school and earn a B.S. in Chemical Engineering at U.C. Berkeley, followed by MBA and M.S. degrees at Stanford. Hugh’s principal career included senior level positions in manufacturing management – in New York, Houston, Los Angeles and the Bay Area– preceded by a 4-year assignment with the Ford Foundation in Kenya as data processing advisor to the government.   He was an elected trustee of the Claremont (CA) Unified School District. Hugh headed Goodwill of Silicon Valley for 10 years and currently works during tax season for H&R Block. He enjoys being a grandfather to Mason in nearby Santa Cruz, among many other activities.
